Aims and Scope
The Chinese Studies Journal (CSJ) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal published by the Philippine Association for Chinese Studies. It welcomes original essays with engaging perspectives that contribute to the scholarship of China/Chinese Studies. Multidisciplinary in approach, the CSJ features in-depth analyses of the politics, history, economics, culture, and society that underpin key developments in Philippines-China relations, Chinese in the Philippines, and other interrogations on China and the Chinese that relate to, inform, or are of interest to Philippine discourses.
It covers (but are not limited to) the following themes:
Philippines-China Relations
Chinese in the Philippines (e.g., ethnic Chinese in the Philippine history, economy, and society; new Chinese migrants)
China and Chinese in the world
CSJ also welcomes short pieces such as reviews (e.g., book reviews, film reviews), interviews, commentaries, poetry submissions, and travel essays. It accepts submissions on a rolling basis.
CSJ publishes once a year. Issues may consist of open contributions or special collections.

Editorial Responsibility
The editors are responsible for ensuring the overall quality of the journal's contents. The editors may reject a manuscript without external review if the manuscript fails to fit the journal’s scope, lacks originality, or does not meet the journal’s quality standards.
The editorial team should communicate all guidelines, policies, and standards to the authors and reviewers clearly.
The editorial team is responsible for administering a timely and thorough double-blind peer-review editorial process. The manuscript should be assigned to a reviewer with corresponding expertise and interest.
Review Policy
The editor will evaluate the manuscript submission for suitability and originality.
Manuscript submissions that meet CSJ’s aims and scope will be sent directly to two appropriate peer-reviewers whose expertise match the manuscript’s subject. For special issues, manuscripts will be sent to the issue editors to recommend two appropriate readers.
CSJ reserves the right to accept, reject, or edit submissions.
